Flame from candle light
Slow still distant night
Village building window
Walking streets of sorrow
Somebody lives here
Wonder what they’re like
Satisfied and cozy
Or glasses tinted rosy
Would it be so bad
If we weren’t like them?
Would it be so bad
If this is all there is?
Would it be so sad
If heaven don’t exist?
Would it be so bad?
What we do at
Night shift closes up
Clears last coffee cup
Puts chairs on table top
Sweeping broom and wet mop
Hateful crown of thorns
Grateful people scorn
Carrying their crosses
Counting boss’s losses
Would it be so bad
If we weren’t like them?
Would it be so bad
If this is all there is?
Would it be so sad
If heaven don’t exist?
Would it be so bad?
Would it be so sad?
Would it be so bad
If we weren’t like them?
Would it be so bad
If this is all there is?
Would it be so sad
If heaven don’t exist?
Would it be so bad
If this is all there is?
Would it be so sad
If heaven don’t exist?
Would it be so bad
If this is all there is?

Killing of the Lady
04:01
|
|||
Crawled out of bed one fine morning
Couldn’t believed what I heard
Millions of people in mourning
Every network spread the word
The impact it was like an explosion
Was felt all around the world
People everywhere had mixed emotions
Every man, woman, boy and girl
The paper and the tabloids had a field day
Color pictures everywhere
Sometimes it’s hard to tell what is just hearsay
But certainly there was despair
They say the driver of the car was hammered
Going much faster than the speed allowed
Some bystanders yelled at the men with cameras
Well I hope you’re happy now
My eyes are not some deep white slime
That rolls across the printed page
Of news like some well trained showdog
People stood in line waiting for hours
To sign the book and pay respects
I swear you’d never seen so many flowers
It had quite a profound effect
Talk of price of celebrity and fame
Prestigious and the shady
Still we wonder really who is to blame
For the killing of the Lady
My eyes are not some deep white slime
That rolls across the printed page
Of news like some well trained showdog
This isn’t some old parlor trick
Like a chewed up gumball from those
Penny machines found at drug stores
Better stop better stop crying
Hope you’re happy now

High Life
04:39
|
|||
After all
The laughter we crawl
To the shafter mall
It’s really quite small
The high life
It could be mine
The high life
It could be mine
if I
My life
It could be fine
My life
It would be fine
If I could live without
After your call
If a tear should fall
There’s no easy cure all
Or catchall curveball
The high life
It could be mine
The high life
It could be mine
if I
My life
It could be fine
My life
It could be fine
If I could live without
I might just be surprised
Yeah I might just be surprised
I have been so blessed
To have been your guest
But the things I wanted to say
I never got off my chest
The high life
It could be mine
The high life
It could be mine
if I
My life
It could be fine
My life
It could be fine
If I could live without
High life
It could be mine
My life
It could be mine
If I
My life
It could be mine
My life
It could be fine
If I
Just live without
My life
